Ora and Lance Gordon are the proud parents of two dTHS graduates, Jake ‘14 and Hannah ’17 and aunt and uncle to Caitlin Carroll ‘13 and Natalie Gordon ‘18.
Lance is an international tax attorney, partner with Ernst & Young, and former adjunct faculty member at the USC Marshall School of Business. Lance was also a Captain (O6) in the US Navy Reserve for thirty years until his retirement in 2013. He earned a Masters in Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College, was assigned to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), Naval Special Warfare Command, Defense Intelligence Agency, US Pacific Command and the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies, among others with duty stations throughout the world. Following the terrorist attacks on 9/11, Lance was recalled to active duty as an NCIS officer-agent. Lance’s last duty station was in Baghdad, Iraq in 2012 with the Office of Security Cooperation.
Ora, a physician, is a nationally recognized expert in hereditary cancer and Medical Director of the Center for Clinical Genetics & Genomics for Providence Health & Services, Southern California. She is a Professor of Genetics at the John Wayne Cancer Institute and Associate Professor of Medicine at UCLA Geffen School of Medicine.
Committed to the prevention of cancer and Jewish genetic diseases, Ora is the co-author of an award winning book for women facing genetic risk for breast or ovarian cancer, called Positive Results: making the best decisions when at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Passionate about the holistic approach to medicine, she more recently completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine and created and directs a unique cancer survivors wellness program, called Thrivorship. She has been named to Los Angeles Magazine’s Top Doctors list for years.
Both Ora and Lance have been avid supporters of dTHS for the past decade. Lance has been a member of the Board of Directors for several years and is currently the Board Secretary. Ora has been a regular lecturer in the Biology and Medical Ethics courses as well as for the Science Colloquium. She was the wrestling and swim team parent coordinator for four years, and they both have served as past Gala Co-Chairs.
