Carin Koeppel’s passion for supporting her children’s educational institutions goes back to VBS Nursery School when she led the room parents for the parent organization. Once Sam (‘19) moved on to Wilbur Avenue Elementary School, she jumped right in and was on the PTA Executive Board for 6 years, Chaired the Pledge Drive, and Co-chaired the Annual Gala. Carin continued her work at Heschel Day School co-chairing the Boutique for three years and participated in all the family events from Mitzvah Day to Bingo Night. At VBS, she joined the B’nai Mitzvah committee to review and update the B’nai Mitzvah program and handbook for families.
Rabbi Vorspan’s early religious training included the L.A. Hebrew High School, Camp Ramah, the United Synagogue’s Leadership Training Fellowship, and the University of Judaism’s Hebrew Teacher’s College. Rabbi Vorspan was ordained by the Hebrew Union College, where he served as president of the student body and founder and editor of the student newspaper, “Kolbo.” After ordination, he joined the staff of Temple Beth Emet in Anaheim, California–a Conservative synagogue.
