Ventura Blvd Magazine Profiles dTHS Science Students
de Toledo High School’s Spirulina Research Program – an inspiring collaboration between our school’s Global Jewish Education and Science departments – continues to attract attention far and wide!
In fact, Ventura Blvd Magazine – the premium lifestyle brand and magazine of the San Fernando Valley – has seen fit to publish in its current “Faces of the Future” edition a profile on the seven dTHS science students who traveled to Uganda earlier this school year to present their spirulina research findings and help the Jewish Abayudaya community in that African nation cultivate the crop, and in the process, become more food secure.
As was pointed out in the Ventura Blvd profile, the seven young women who participated in the program – Isabella C., Sarai G., Siena G., Eliana H., Madalyn K., Cece N., and Kate S. – displayed the exact type of grit we are determined to foster here at dTHS. Even amidst an outbreak of Ebola in Uganda, our students never hesitated and insisted on following through in their efforts to apply their science research in as meaningful a way as possible.
The way de Toledo inculcates our students with a true love of learning alongside the highest standards of academic excellence AND profound pride in their Jewish identity is truly unique!
