CARIN KOEPPEL

Carin Koeppel’s passion for supporting her children’s educational institutions goes back to VBS Nursery School when she led the room parents for the parent organization. Once Sam (‘19) moved on to Wilbur Avenue Elementary School, she jumped right in and was on the PTA Executive Board for 6 years, Chaired the Pledge Drive, and Co-chaired the Annual Gala.  Carin continued her work at Heschel Day School co-chairing the Boutique for three years and participated in all the family events from Mitzvah Day to Bingo Night. At VBS, she joined the B’nai Mitzvah committee to review and update the B’nai Mitzvah program and handbook for families.

As soon as Sam became a freshman at de Toledo High School, Carin didn’t miss a beat. She got involved in the Parent Organization and the Advancement department. She worked on Jagwear, Parent Orientation, was an Annual Campaign Grade Level Representative and an Open House volunteer. As Annual Campaign Co-Chair for 2 years, Carin and her co-chairs raised over $1.2 million dollars. Athletics is also a passion of Carin’s. You could find her and Jeff at the field watching Sam, Ryan z”l and Sydney play their sport, whether it was baseball, flag football or soccer. She always finds ways to promote the dTHS athletics program to attract students.

After Ryan’s death in 2020, Carin and her family found incredible support from the de Toledo and Jewish communities. Ryan z”l loved video production and film, so they decided to focus their energies on building the dTHS Media Arts program. The Koeppel family has committed to a $5,000 Ryan Koeppel Sound & Vision Scholarship each year, has provided funding for Media Arts equipment, upgraded the Green Screen production room and are working with the de Toledo team to build a post-production suite. They recently launched the Ryan Koeppel Sound & Vision Speaker Series which they hope will inspire future filmmakers.

Carin and Jeff plan to continue to support Jewish Education and de Toledo as they transition to Alumni Parents.
