Boys Varsity Soccer Quarterfinal Result

de Toledo's season ends in a close 1-0 defeat

de Toledo 0 - San Dimas 1 (CIF-SS Division 7 Quarterfinal)

The Boys Varsity Soccer team's season ended in a 1-0 tilt in the CIF-SS Division 7 Quarterfinals against San Dimas. San Dimas scored their sole goal right before the halftime whistle on a cross from the right side of the box that was deflected near the middle to the open net. The Jaguars tried to counter the score with an attack of their own, playing long balls down the line, hoping that the forwards would be able to outpace the San Dimas defenders for the ball. San Dimas continually dropped six defenders to impede de Toledo’s offensive game plan. Even with the offense stifled, the Jaguars had their two best chances to tie the game on set pieces: one from the corner that skipped by the open player and one on a free kick that was off target. The Jaguars defense bent, but rarely broke, and were heavily supported by the excellent play of the goalkeeper, Dylan Benson. Benson made the right calls from the box, showing an increased confidence between the pipes. Despite the push to level the game, San Dimas held the ball for long possessions, limiting the amount of chances the Jaguars had to even it up.

The Jaguars’ playoff run to the quarterfinals matches that of the program’s best. With 17 players returning next year, de Toledo will look to use this run to bolster their early season play.
