Varsity Flag Football wins their third straight game

Boys Varsity Flag Football (6-6)

de Toledo 31 - Valley Torah 13

The Jaguars moved to .500 with their third straight win, placing themselves in contention for a playoff seed. de Toledo proved dominant from the get-go, scoring 14 points in the opening quarter. Quarterback Jesse Spencer started the scoring by zig-zagging through the defense for a 50-yard touchdown scamper. Spencer followed by connecting with Evan Rose on a 2-yard catch to give the Jaguars the two-touchdown lead. In the second quarter, Spencer threw his second touchdown of the game, this time hitting Yarden Leshem on a deep ball that Leshem grasped out of midair with a one-handed snag in the end zone. Leshem scored his second touchdown of the day in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard dime from Spencer.

The Jaguar defense held Valley Torah in check, giving up only six points to the Wolfpack -- seven of the 13 points came off of a pick-six. Valley Torah rarely found holes in the de Toledo secondary as Andrew Gussman and Evan Rose managed to intercept the Valley Torah QB. Senior Zachary Kassebaum pressured the quarterback in the opening minutes of the game for his first sack of the season. The defensive highlight of the day came from Jonah Weisner who picked off the Valley Torah extra point and seemingly covered the entire field with his return before housing it for three points.
