de Toledo 14 - Northridge Academy 2 (F/5)

Boys Varsity Baseball (3-0 Overall)

de Toledo 14 - Northridge Academy 2

The de Toledo bats were out at full force once again, as the Jaguars expunged of Northridge Academy in five innings by 12 runs. The Jaguars separated from the Pumas in the first two innings, taking an 8-1 lead after the opening frames.

Max T. ‘21 led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a triple to ignite the offense. Ethan S. ‘21 brought him home with a single to give the Jaguars the opening score. Jared B. ‘20, who was also the starting pitcher for de Toledo on Monday, promptly doubled to left field, which moved Ethan S. ‘21 to 3rd base. Jacob W. ‘21 then cleared the bases with a double to left field for the 3-0 gap. After Jacob W. ‘21 stole 3rd base, Aidan S. ‘20 hit a ball to short, which was fumbled by the shortstop, allowing the run to come in.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Jeremy N. ‘23 started off the inning with a four-pitch walk. Jeremy N.’23 then advanced to 2nd base on a groundout and during the next at-bat, he advanced to 3rd base on a steal. Ethan S. ‘21 promptly struck a ball to center for the double, adding to de Toledo’s lead. Jared B. ‘20 then hit a single to the shortstop who once again could not handle the ball, allowing Ethan S. ‘21 to score and Jared B. ‘20 to reach 1st base. Jacob W. ‘21 smacked a triple to left field, widening the margin to 6 runs. Similar to the prior inning, Aidan S. ‘20 brought in the final run of the inning, this time with a sac fly to center.

As good of a day as Jared B. ‘20 was having at the plate, he matched it with his performance on the mound. He gave up only 2 hits and 1 earned run in 3 innings pitched, while racking up 4 strikeouts. Max T. ‘21 and Aidan S. ‘20 each pitched an inning of relief, surrendering no hits in the two final innings of play.
