Jaguars Win is a Year in the Making

Jaguars win their season opener 10-1

de Toledo 10 - Shalhevet 1

The Jaguars opened up the season, after a year away from the field, with a 10-run offensive output to dispose of the Firehawks. de Toledo capitalized early on after giving up a run to Shalhevet in the top of the 1st inning. Leadoff hitter, Max T. ‘21 started the bottom half of the frame with a walk. He then advanced to 3rd base on two wild pitches. Jesse S. ‘22 took advantage of this opportunity by slapping a single by 3rd for the Jaguar’s first run of the season. Jacob W. ‘21 came to the plate next and, like Max before him, took a patient approach to the plate for a walk. Ethan S. ‘21 then scorched a double to left center to score Jesse and to send Jacob to 3rd. Two more wild pitches ended up scoring Jacob and Ethan for a comfortable 4-1 lead exiting the 1st.

After letting up 2 walks and 1 run in the first inning, starting pitcher Max T. ‘21 was lights out from the 2nd inning forward. Max struck out 8 Firehawks, while only surrendering 2 hits in 6 confident innings of work. Ryan S. ‘21 closed the game in the 7th with a 2-strikeout relief appearance.
