From experienced artists to energetic newcomers, at de Toledo students can take their artistic passions as far as they can imagine.
The school’s award-winning programs in theatre and performing arts, music, dance, fine arts, visual arts, and film production allow students to hone their talents, discover their inner artistry, and cultivate their own sense of identity, self-confidence at self-expression.
A passion for the arts permeates life on campus. This past year, our sensational dTHS musical was Mamma Mia… a joyful celebration of love, friendship, and ABBA! And earlier in the year, there was the equally impressive production of Emilia, the riveting historical drama by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm. Our theatre program has garnered multiple nominations for the Jerry Herman Awards, including for Best Musical.
Meanwhile, our annual Winter Arts Festival provides our infinitely talented theatre students, musicians, artists, dancers, Fine Arts students, and budding filmmakers to showcase their creativity for our entire community.
de Toledo’s Director of Theatre is none other than Raymond Saar, who has himself enjoyed starring roles on some of the most prestigious stages in the world – including in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables on Broadway, and the national tour of The King and I.
The school’s dynamic dance teams perform brilliantly each year at multiple local / regional competitions, routinely earning scholarships as well.
In recognition of our uniquely holistic and innovative approach to teaching dance, the iconic Martha Graham Company (the oldest professional school of dance and company in the United States), even chose to include de Toledo’s dancers in the filming of a PBS documentary.
de Toledo’s Jazz and Pop Rock bands display individual talent and collective harmony at campus concerts all year long.
In Fine Arts, our student artists excel in photography, sculpture, and 2D Arts – and regularly impress judges in numerous local, state, and national competitions.
Similarly, our award-winning Film Production program has had multiple students take home top honors at local, national, and international film festivals. Last year, for example, dTHS students won the award for Best Student Film at the prestigious Santa Monica Film Festival!
de Toledo’s theatre program has given me so many opportunities to pursue my love for acting. The program has allowed me to learn how to create a stage production from the ground-up. The process has been so collaborative.
