"For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to dedicate my life to helping others through medicine. Sadly, my brother passed away at the age of four from cancer. My family's loss and my brother's story became my motivation to make a difference and help those experiencing medical hardships. de Toledo has given me the tools to build on that passion in the school’s incredible Medical Science Academy. As part of the program, we take advanced, college-level science courses, intern with local doctors and surgeons, and travel abroad on medical missions in developing countries.
Through the Medical Science Academy, I had the opportunity to go to Guatemala and work in an operating room, assisting surgeons and nurses, helping patients, and consoling families. This was one of the most powerful experiences of my life and has created a lasting impact on me that I know I will carry with me through college, medical school, and wherever the future takes me."
