Alumni Parent Campaign

These are our stories...
and we want to know yours.

While our children’s high school days may be in the rearview mirror, the impact made by their de Toledo experiences lasts a lifetime. We are recommitting ourselves by getting involved at dTHS and supporting this wonderful school. We invite you to join us.

Laura Ozer

Mother of Sam (‘12) and Daniel (‘15)

There are the usual reasons that people choose to send their kids to  Jewish day school: to provide a values-based education, to build a sense of community, and to foster a sense of Jewish Pride and a love of Israel. Then there are the reasons unique to dTHS, the greatest of which, for us, is how each student is seen clearly for who they are, and then met there by the faculty and administration. My two boys, Sam and Daniel, are two very different kinds of kids and different kinds of students. In high school each was recognized for who they are, and have since grown into strong and confident Jewish men to be proud of; proud of their achievements, yes, but more importantly, proud of the people they have become…kind,
thoughtful, and giving.

Michele Kaufman

Mother of Lily (‘16) and Gabriel (‘20)

Sending our children to de Toledo (dTHS) proved to be invaluable for all aspects of their growth. While our daughter, Lily, attended college  he was able to engage in a thoughtful dialogue with her college professor and classmates when misinformation about Judaism was  being taught. Her ability to respectfully challenge inaccuracies and contribute to the discussion speaks volumes about the strong foundation she received at dTHS. Our son, Gabriel, completed his senior year of college in 2024, following October 7th. He was tested many times during his last year at college and stood with strength  against antisemitism. Watching our children thrive after attending dTHS has deepened our commitment to support the school in its efforts to provide academic opportunities and foster a community that instills valuable knowledge and confidence in students, helping them embrace their identities.

Phyllis Shinbane

Mother of Steven (‘09), Jordy (‘14), and Andrew (‘17)

Our family has embraced the de Toledo philosophy of being A+ human beings, a seed planted during our children’s years at the school. The impact of their strong academic and values-based education is evident in the choices they now make as adults. They excel in their careers based on both their confidence and their sense of integrity. They embrace the values of Tikkun Olam and Tzedakah and are making a difference in the world by giving back. For us, the decision to send them to de Toledo was summed up in one simple text we received from Jordy while she was on her Israel Birthright Israel trip at age 26: “Mom and Dad: thank you for sending me to Jewish Day School!”

Arlene Davidson

Mother of Morgan (‘15), Sam (‘21), and Ethan (dTHS summer school)

Watching my children Morgan, Sam, and Ethan blossom into the adults they have become gives me so much hope for not only the Jewish people, but our world as a whole. The gratitude I feel to de Toledo High School for partnering with my family to help launch three successful A+ human beings is simply immeasurable. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to help grow our community in hopes that other families experience the unique opportunity that only de Toledo can provide.
