Emmy Award-Winning Sound Editor Visits dTHS
As part of learning opportunities in the Ryan Koeppel Vision and Sound Production Suite, guest teacher Tim Kimmel visited Richard Stark's Media Arts and Video Production classes today!
Mr. Kimmel is a dTHS Dad and Emmy Award-winning Supervising Sound Editor (Game of Thrones, CSI: Miami, Lovecraft Country, and many more).
Teaching in the Koeppel editing room, Mr. Kimmel used a Game of Thrones episode to demonstrate the elements of designing sound for TV and film, listened to audio drama pitches from the students, and offered pro tips for generating sound effects.
This guest teacher visit was part of the Ryan Koeppel Vision and Sound Speaker Series, honoring the late Ryan Koeppel, z"l. Ryan was a vibrant student at dTHS whom we tragically lost in the fall of 2020. A member of the class of 2022, Ryan loved film, video, and photography. In his memory, his family has formed a scholarship fund and funded upgrades to our Media Studio's green screen and editing room, which now make up the Ryan Koeppel Vision and Sound Production Suite.
