The Jaguars shocked the Memphis Cooper Invitational pollsters by finishing fourth out of sixteen in the tournament, despite being ranked as the tenth best team entering the tournament. de Toledo felt underseeded coming into the tournament and took it out on their first two opponents to show the pollsters that they did indeed underrate the Jaguars.
In their first game of the tournament, de Toledo made their mark from the free throw line and three-point line to take down the higher-ranked Fasman Yeshiva. Liam Evenhaim led the Jaguars in scoring with 22 points, with Dylan Esulin and Aidan Waldman joining him in double figures with 16 and 10 points each. The Jaguars followed their opening upset by then defeating #2-seeded YULA Panthers to make some noise in the brackets. The team once again limited their opponents’ offensive opportunities with stout defense and clock-draining offensive sets for easy shots. Evenhaim put the team on his shoulders for a staggering 26 points. In beating YULA, the Jaguars advanced further than any of the Los Angeles Jewish school representatives at the tournament.
The same three Jaguars that scored in double figures in the first game did the same in the third, in a close loss to Rochelle Zell Jewish High School. Evenhaim topped the team with 21 points, followed by Esulin with 12 and Waldman with 10. After three days of competitive basketball, the team seemed to lose some steam in the 3rd Place Game against Posnack Jewish Day School. Esulin and Evenhaim matched one another in the points department with 11 points to lead the Jaguars.
The 3-Point Shooting Contest took place after the 3rd Place Game with Evenhaim setting a new tournament record, sinking 21 three-pointers. Evenhaim was also named to the All-Tournament team, as one of only five players in the tournament to be selected to the team. Esulin garnered an All-Star selection for his standout play.
