First-Ever dTHS Geography Competition
Earlier this month, the Academic Teams Program and the History Department held the first-ever dTHS Geography Competition. 226 students participated in the Preliminary Round, which featured a timed multiple-choice assessment about world geography (40 questions in 20 minutes).
The top 44 Preliminary Round scorers advanced to the Final Round, where they took the Geography Championships National Qualifying Exam (NQE). The NQE, a highly challenging world geography assessment (50 multiple-choice questions in 20 minutes), is used to determine eligibility for the National Championships.
Evan Zicklin ('22) is the first student in dTHS history to qualify for the United States Geography Championships Varsity National Competition.
Evan was the top dTHS scorer in both the Preliminary Round and the Final Round, and his exceptional Final Round score has qualified him for the national championships. The Varsity National Competition will take place on Friday, April 24, in Arlington, Virginia, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott hotel. Evan will spend the next few months preparing for America's top high school geography competition.
