Mock Trial Team: Round One
Our dTHS Mock Trial team traveled to Stanley Mosk Courthouse to battle it out in the first round of competition in defense of an individual accused of making criminal threats and making a false emergency report.
Danielle E. started off the proceedings giving a compelling pre-trial argument regarding what is and is not considered a true threat under First Amendment law. Bradley G. continued the defense of our client with an airtight opening statement which was followed by the rest of our defense attorneys, Shani H. and Spencer S., building their case and picking apart the arguments of the opposing prosecution through direct and cross examinations. Witnesses Dylan S., Ronny T., and Leah L. played their roles perfectly before Spencer delivered an impassioned speech as closing statement.
When all was said and done, the judge came back with a verdict of NOT GUILTY on both counts!
